Great Colorado River dam plan eyed by congressman

Congressman L. J. Dickinson and a party of twenty congressmen and two senators visited a site near Boulder to study a proposed dam on the Colorado River. The plan envisions a 606 foot high barrier to create a giant artificial lake reclaiming 400000 acres of land and supplying irrigation and hydroelectric power. Bonds would fund construction and be repaid from power revenues, potentially making the project revenue neutral or profitable for the government. Dickinson, returning to Washington, will address farm problems and lead discussion as a Farm Bloc leader.
