Trouble on the Peddler Law and Licensing Questions
Officiat Find If Dimehit of Interpretation County and city officials are finding much difficulty in construing the state law as to peddlers and the right of towns and counties to subject them to license. The Thirtieth general assembly law provides license fees from 50 to 100 for peddlers outside incorporated Lowne. The act includes transient vendors but excludes wholesale merchants, drug vendors, and sellers of fresh meat, fish, or vegetables or those selling their own work. Questions arise whether book agents, summer canvassers, implement dealers, harvester agents, and buckster wagons require licenses, and what constitutes a buckster. Also notes a patent remedy ad for Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tablets.
