Corn and Hogs Outlook for Iowa in 1924
Iowa and national crops face sharp declines. Corn production is expected to drop about 17 percent from 1923 despite larger spring acreage, with a 72 percent normal condition on July 1 and yields near 32 bushels per acre. Hog numbers also fall, signaling potential price pressures and feed-saving by hog feeding this fall. Chas D Reed, Iowa Weather & Crop Service director, notes weather damage and advises on implications.
