Iowa Crop Report Highlights Warm Week and Heavy Showers
The Iowa crop report for the week ending July 13 notes unusually warm, humid weather with an average daily temperature excess of 3 to 10 degrees. From July 5 to 10 heavy showers and high winds caused damage in eastern and northern districts, with rainfall from 2.00 to 6.30 inches. Much of the state remained near normal moisture, though southern areas show surface moisture scarcity. Rust and smut affect spring wheat and oats in recently moisture-saturated districts, while corn advances rapidly in all regions. Haying is underway in central and southern districts, with early oats cut at many points.
