Poultry Self-Feeders Boost Egg Output via Rations
Poultry extension specialist J L Gordon of Iowa State College notes that during visits to 110 Iowa flocks, high egg production correlated with use of self-feeders. He recommends a ration of 200 lb ground corn 100 lb oats and 25 to 50 lb tankage, with green feeds supplementing in summer.

Potato Bug Outbreak Hits Iowa Potatoes
The Colorado beetle outbreak threatens northern Iowa potato fields. An 88 acre sample shows 50 to 75 percent of vines damaged, equating to roughly 10 to 15 percent crop loss. Treatments include lead arsenate sprays or Paris green, with experiments using Bordeaux mixture and nicotine sulfate.
