Ku Klux Klan Ousted From Kansas by Supreme Court
The Kansas Supreme Court upheld the state plea that the Ku Klux Klan operates for profit and requires a charter. The decision ends the two year clash between state authorities and the hooded order, outlawing the Klan in Kansas unless a charter is granted by the state charter board. The suit was filed Nov. 21, 1924, at Gov. Allen’s direction and involves whether the Klan is a benevolent group or a for profit corporation.
