Winter driving on icy highways tips and findings

A National Safety Council study from Lake Cadillac Michigan outlines how to handle icy roads. It debunks lowering tire pressure for traction and notes icy surfaces are trickiest at two degrees above freezing. Tires with good tread help on wet roads, chains offer limited curve control, calcium chloride-coated abrasives aid skid resistance, and brakes should be used gradually with engine braking to avoid skidding.
