Iowa youths from Keokuk county rise to prominence in many fields
Des Moines reports that a Keokuk county region near South English has produced a remarkable number of notable figures. Education leaders, politicians, and prominent professionals such as Homer H. Seerley era Cedar Falls president, John Burke of North Dakota, and Frank Mahanna linked to Davenport, are cited as farm-born success stories. The piece lists governors, educators, and a Carnegie Hero recipient, notes on rural schools, Parole activity, land histories tied to Lincoln, and Grinnell College foreign students, with broader Iowa education and public notice items included.
