Former Resident Announces Wedding in Sioux Falls

Edward Ruddy of Mallard formerly of Estherville and Miss Wilma Lawhorn of Emmetsburg announce their marriage on January 12 in Sioux Falls South Dakota. They were joined by Miss Grace Sharp and Laverne Chapman both of Emmetsburg. Ruddy son of Edward J. Ruddy, resided in Mallard and Emmetsburg during youth. He worked on the Lawhorn farm. Lawhorn daughter Floyd and Mrs. Lawhorn teaches in Palo Alto county.

Monument Erected for Spirit Lake Massacre Forty Years Ago

From the Northern Vindicator files a 63 foot monument commemorating the Spirit Lake massacre has been erected near the Gerdin Sharp cabin. M G Wilson of this city and Miss Minnie Wright of Emmetsburg were married February fifth at the bride’s uncle and aunt’s home.

Social Club Meetings Bring Games and Luncheon

Crescent Country club and Four Mile Lake club hosted a joint gathering at the George Swanson farm home with nearly thirty guests Friday afternoon. Hostess Mrs. Walter Swanson assisted. The groups conducted meetings then enjoyed puzzles stunts and games followed by light refreshments. Amundsen Hosts Busy Eight Luncheon and Five Hundred. Officers Elected for Service Star Legion at City Hall. Mrs Norman Maine became president with Mrs C W Jones as vice president and others named in the new slate.
