Tri County Teachers Meeting Held in Estherville

The annual Tri County Teachers Meeting for Palo Alto Clay and Emmet counties takes place at the Methodist church in Estherville on February 9 and 10 with Superintendent Lerdall predicting about four hundred visiting teachers. The program includes enrollment, address sessions by G W Samson and Mrs Hattie Moore Mitchell, music and drill performances by grade pupils, and an evening entertainment with a 25 cent admission.

Death of O M Butterfield in Ottawa Illinois

O M Butterfield longtime Emmet County land owner and Ottawa hardware merchant died January 30 in Ayburn hospital Ottawa. Born January 14 1882 in Watertown New York he moved to Illinois in 1861 living in Marseilles before settling in Ottawa. Survived by widow Mrs Rebecca Butterfield son Dr E H Butterfield foster daughter Mrs Barbara Campbell sister Mrs Lydia Aldrich and other relatives. Funeral Wednesday at 2:00 PM from the Baptist church with interment in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.

Emmetaburg Iowa February 4 special report says 80 year old Charles Dirksen of Ohio committed death by his own action in a barn at West Bend. The body was found suspended from the ceiling. motive unknown. He had been living in West Bend only a few months.
