Amputations After Blizzard and Local Notices From Vindicator
R H Morissey who was badly frozen in the Jan blizzard had both feet amputated Friday and Sunday four fingers of his left hand and three of his right. He is getting along as well as can be expected. The county jail is remodeling its appearance with raised floors and painted walls. Chas Anderson bought a lot on North 8th street near the Christian parsonage and plans a spring residence. Jake Hepp sold his West Side home for 4000 to Tan Whitish. Ice harvest shows 18 inches thick and high quality. Mrs Wm Tweedy hosted a bridge party at Gardston. A J Rhodes and H W Thompson went to Chicago for the auto show. Mr and Mrs G Zeeman entertained in honor of Mrs Schumacher. Dr C E Birney and wife to Chicago to buy an X ray machine. Mr and Mrs Joe Orvis visited relatives at Spencer. Government thermometer read sixteen below. Dr M E Wilson, Frank Haller, H Oransky and A M Jeffries attended a four day Consistory session in Cedar Rapids. From Northern Vindicator note: Nellie Lawrence wed Herman Graaf at Presbyterian church. Rev Wm M Evans officiated. Miss Minnie Carpenter maid of honor. Henry Graat best man. Roy Barren and Bennie Johnson returned to Ellsworth college. Frank Woods now at Northern Indiana college Velparaiso. Thus Sunde of Ellsworth township returned from a four weeks visit in Haimois. Reception by Mr and Mrs J B Bienford at their new home drew nearly 200 people.
