The second annual banquet of the Methodist Brotherhood of the M. B. church was held Tuesday night with seventy five men seated and served a five course menu by Mrs. J. W. Morse's Ladies Aid division. President A. H. Nash praised the progress of the past year and called for more members as the brotherhood, now 65 strong, aims to attract new applicants. Fern Fox played piano pieces and Mrs G. H. Stanley and Ed Broms gave vocal solos to wide appreciation. Prof. J. L. Mishler spoke on the group's work and future plans.

Milwaukee railroad cuts passenger service due to coal shortage
The Milwaukee company reduced passenger trains Nos. 32 and 3 1/2 between Mason City and McGregor by order of Supt Collins amid coal shortages. Minnesota divisions also faced cutbacks with Austin delaying two passenger trains and three freight trains while old ties and other waste fuels the stationary engines. About 600 coal cars lie idle along river divisions, hampered by power shortages and cold weather.

Mrs. B. Knudtson Dies After Prolonged Illness
Mrs. B. Knudtson died at her home on south Tenth street after a long illness. Funeral services will be held from the Norwegian Lutheran church led by Rev. J.J. Akre. She was a longtime county resident, a devoted wife and mother, with two daughters having died earlier. A husband and one sow survive, the community noting her quiet service and home devotion.
