Fire destroys Coon block. Estherville recovers and rebuilds

Fire swept through the Coon block in Estherville late last night, costing an estimated 90 000 for the Coon buildings and 20 000 in Shadle stock plus numerous other losses totaling about 200 000. The blaze spread to nine nearby structures under a northwest wind, with firefighters saving some blocks and sustaining injuries such as Chief Ford Connelly's glass-cut arm. The Vindicator and Republican reports the disaster while noting a proposed temporary office setup and future press rebuild plans.
