Heffelfinger Appointed Clerk as Court Vacancy War Whirls
The board appointed L Heffelfinger of Armstrong to fill the late John Amundson’s court vacancy against Judge Bailie and M Brown. The attorney general’s opinion held the appointment valid until the next election, but Brown disputes this and plans legal action. The dispute may reach the supreme court as a test case. Also notes on a salary bill for the president, White House expenses, and the Estherville Creamery Company reporting strong gains and expanded dairy capacity.
