Silver Weddings Celebrate Three Couples at City Hall

The Brown Creek country club and families hosted a Friday party at city hall in honor of the twenty fifth wedding anniversaries of Clyde Martin and George Haar. Entertainment included high score prizes for several guests, a Tom Thumb double wedding ceremony, and a covered dish supper. Also honored were the Haars at a separate home gathering and Bert Swanson’s twenty fifth anniversary surprise party at Oscar Carlson’s home with cake, presenting guests, and a money purse for the couple.

Hostesses Honor Mrs Myron Graves With Bridge Luncheon

Mrs Merrill Robb and Mrs Woodrow Wilson hosted a Thursday bridge luncheon at the Robb home in honor of Mrs Myron Graves of Graver. Guests played contract bridge and Hearts with high scores awarded to Mrs Frank Westbrook and Mrs Stanley Larson. A two course luncheon followed with red and green candles on the tables.

New Deal Club Christmas Party Held at Smith Home

Mrs Geo Smith and Mrs Andrew McAndrews hosted a New Deal club Christmas party Thursday afternoon at the Smith home. After a 1 30 luncheon, auction bridge was played at three tables and gifts exchanged. High scores went to Mrs Guy Nicholson, Mrs Otto Grimm second, Mrs L Barbar traveling, and Otis Woods a special prize. Guest Mrs Floyd Johnson attended. Other members listed include Mrs Woods Nicholson Herman Sorum Herman Weise L Tons Crim Ray Moore Oley Anderton Sam Woods. The Friday afternoon club later entertained their husbands at a formal dinner in the Gardston hotel Blue Room with contract bridge and a Christmas exchange. High ladies prize went to Mrs Edmund Callender and Mrs Parker Bennett. high men to Fred Lyman and Jack White. Guests included Mr and Mrs Parker Bennett, Mr and Mrs Frank Larson, Mr and Mrs Francis Shadle, Mr and Mrs Delbert Hinsch, Mr and Mrs Edmund Callender, Mr and Mrs F R Everds, Mr and Mrs Jack White, and Mr and Mrs Fred Lyman. Wa Tan Ye Club Christmas Party At Gardston Hotel

The Wa-Tan-Ye club held its annual Christmas party in the Blue Room of the Gardston Hotel on Thursday evening. Thirty-one members attended a seven o'clock dinner, with festive decorations and a large tree. A stunt appeared on each place card and was performed, Miss Gertrude Mohr led carols, and gifts were exchanged. The Estherville Lutheran Ladies Aid elected year officers including president L. A. Mathre and secretary Harold Carlson, while the Mission Society chose A. R. Espeset as president. A Christmas program featured readings and Norwegian language duets, with hosts and guests listed among the local congregants. Christmas Vesper Social For Presbyterian Endeavor

The Presbyterian Christian Endeavor society joined the Methodist Epworth League for a candle light Vesper service at the Methodist church. A lighted tree and candles created a festive atmosphere as Mac McMillan presided. Miss Mildred Ortmeyer led the devotional with Ruth Howard and Beverly Strong assisting. The Christmas story Chil dren of the Inn was presented by Miss Lucille Peterson. A social hour followed, with refreshments provided by a committee led by Virginia Trad and others.

Estherville Lutheran confirms reunion and New Year program

A reunion for all Estherville Lutheran church members confirmed since Rev. L A Mathre began minstry will be held in the church parlors on December 31 with a 530 PM supper served by the ladies aid. About 125 expected. Committee: Mrs Hans Lee Mrs Harold Carlson Mrs Theodore Herum. A program follows and Stanley Olson may speak. Concludes with a New Year’s Eve watch party. The White Shrine Christmas party at the Masonic hall includes officer elections and refreshments by Mr and Mrs J W Peterson Miss Clara Suss and Mrs P J Paulson.

Welfare committee to pack 105 Christmas baskets Friday

The Welfare committee will meet Friday to pack Christmas baskets for needy families. Miss Lucille Wylder, in charge of welfare work, estimates about 105 baskets will be sent out this year, including baskets filled by various organizations. The American Legion will distribute the baskets Saturday morning.

Knights of Pythias and Degree of Honor Meeting Notices

Knights of Pythias will meet Thursday night December 21 at 8:00 p m to appoint knights and serve lunch. Degree of Honor will hold its annual business meeting Friday December 22 at 8:00 p m in the IOOF hall with officer elections and a ten cent Christmas gift exchange.

A time party hosted by the Knights of Pythias featured prizes for the best couple costume worn by Mr. and Mrs. Loyle Mason. Jesse Cox and Mrs. Clump of Emmetsburg won top honors. Wilson led a four piece band from Royal. Hoot dogs and coffee were served as the evening’s refreshment.
