AAA Tenant Income Slightly Above Non AAA Men
Town tenant farmers in Boone and Story counties show AAA cooperators earning only about 80 dollars more per year when payments are included. Despite small current income differences, elkinton notes farming practices yield better soil for the future, with cooperators having more productive lands. A morning fire near Estherville damaged the R M Keyser farm house, starting in the basement and burning through to the living room floor before firefighters arrived. The cause remains undetermined.

Farm Prices Decrease Amid 1942 Outlook
Prices received by Iowa farmers fell in November led by slaughter livestock with declines of 20 to 50 cents per hundredweight from October averages. Grain except flax held steady to higher. chickens down 1½% and milk up 2%. butterfat and wool unchanged. The farm price index dropped to 138 in November from 4400 base, while the index of prices paid by farmers remained steady. Despite slump, analysts foresee higher farm prices in 1942 due to rising demand, defense-driven production, and higher consumer spending on food. Poultry, hogs, cattle, and dairy trends are discussed with outlooks for prices and production into next year.
