Opportunity and new Americans in a changing land
A New York court case highlights Morris Kirschenblatt and his three sons who emigrated from Warsaw to Iowa County last spring. The family, with $50 bond, secured steady jobs: Morris $35, Abraham $25, Jerome $22, Henry $15, while six year old David remains a future worker. The writer argues skilled labor persists and condemns the myth that opportunity requires easy living, noting American liberty contrasts with European oppression and urging renewed vigor in pursuing work and ideals of freedom.
