Ellen Portrays a Shifting World of Love and Art

Ellen a 17 year old model estranged from her mother and the world she knows, moves through New York artistic circles with Dick Alven and Sandy McIntosh. Drumbeat of romance collides with her vow to "love lightly" as she faces a staged life, a wedding ring, and a dramatic attic confrontation with an unsteady, feverish mood. The excerpt centers on Ellen's performance, the pressure of artistry, and the awakenings that accompany sudden romantic entanglements.
