Lake Site Purchased by State on West Okoboji
The State of Iowa through the fish and game department bought a tract at Pike's Point on West Okoboji lake for 5745. The land, added to state holdings near Spirit Lake, was acquired from the Van Steenburg family, the D. C. Patterson estate, and M. L. Kuhn of Spirit Lake. The point, a low sandy triangle south of the Methodist camp ground, provides lake access for state use, not a park, and will remain open to the public with property rights protected.
