Bees Fill Iowa Threshing Gear and Amana Lake Delights

In Keokuk County near Hedrick farmer Zena Briggs finds his threshing separator swarmed with bees after removing a summer cover, yielding over 600 pounds of honey and necessitating days to clear the machinery. Amana Lake attracts large summer crowds for its lilies, while Poweshick County figures reflect state and county tax burdens. Journal pieces also recount nostalgic mentions by Hon. John Bradley and others about old days from stagecoaches to mail planes.
