Crop bulletin reports cool week with frost and uneven soil

The Crop Bulletin for the week ending April 27 notes cool cloudy weather with light rainfall and daily temperatures about five degrees below normal at the central station. Light to heavy frosts and some ice were observed on several mornings with traces of snow at multiple stations, likely not causing heavy damage. Seeding of small grain is near complete, except in parts of the north central and northeast districts, with early seedings showing good stands though cold retarded growth. Plowing for corn has advanced where soils are dry, while some lighter soils remain too wet to seed.
