Balloon Raid And Aims Of German Invasion In Lorraine
A long wartime reminiscence follows an American observer and West Point graduate who recounts a dramatic balloon escape over the Lorraine frontier. Germans cross into France with troops moved from Ramune toward Lagunay as French forces hold a distant line around Halons. the narrator, amid chaos, escapes by climbing the balloon net and is cared for by a French hostess. The piece blends personal peril with broader military movements and misperceived northern invasion alarms.
