The couple plans a southern U.S. wedding trip and will reside in Estherville where Carey works as a hotel janitor.
The engagement announced at a Spencer breakfast unites Kathryn L. Krause of Spencer and Derwood M. Johannsen of Estherville. The ceremony is set for Sunday afternoon May 4 at Spencer Congregational church with Easter color decorations and corsages for twelve guests.

Local residents and relatives spent Easter with family in Estherville and nearby towns. People visiting included Mr and Mrs Robert Ward in Clare and Fort Dodge, Miss Lola Wilson teaching in Hampton, and Mrs Nora Conway in Clinton. Several weddings licenses were issued in Spirit Lake, and others visited relatives in Estherville from Mitchell South Dakota and Minneapolis.
The Clay County Fair plans better horse racing this fall after the fair board decided to join the Midwest Racing circuit. Previously unaffiliated, the fair will host horses traveling from Spencer to Marshalltown as the circuit assigns events to Town State and other major fairs this year.
The choir meets Wednesday night at 7 30 at the church. The Young Women's Missionary Guild gathers Thursday at Miss Margaret Dawson's home. Church school starts Sunday 9 45 morning. Morning worship at 10 50 features communion. Pastor speaks on What Jesus Teaches About Heaven with choir music. Youth groups gather 6 30 pm. Virginia Anderson leads the school group. Esther Peterson directs older youths deliberations. Evening service 7 30 with song service and a message on The Christ of Today. Baptismal service planned at the close.
