Specialists To Discuss Growth Of Soybeans
Ed Dyas farm crop specialist of Town State college will discuss soybean production at a county wide meeting next Wednesday evening April 21 in Estherville city hall. The meeting starts at 8 o clock. Balkema says soybeans suit Iowa soil and fit in crop rotation though not on steep slopes. Soybean acreage in Emmet county has been rising gradually. With new uses soybeans should become a valuable crop to offset cash crops. Soybeans are good feed for livestock as beans, oilmeal or hay. Crushers are at Fort Dodge Des Moines Center ville and Sioux City. These plants provide a ready market for beans where oil is extracted and meal resold for feed. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
