Lutheran Body Grew Rapidly 1847 to Today
A Chicago meeting in 1847 formed what became the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Missouri Ohio and other states now marking its seventy fifth anniversary. The body grew from twelve ministers to 2900 and congregations to 3300 with 1000 preaching stations, serving over a million members across the United States and Canada through extensive home and foreign missions in ten languages and many countries.
