The Lake Man Benjamin Corvet and Son Reveal

Sherrill recounts Benjamin Corvet’s rise as a shipowner on the Great Lakes and his abrupt 1896 change, leading to partnership with Spearman, Corvet’s withdrawal from management, and a life of study and isolation before his disappearance. He reveals Alan may be Corvet’s son and places evidence in Corvet’s Astor Street house, prompting Alan to claim the estate and pursue what drove the family mystery.

Arrived Safe Well and the Key to Corvet Mystery

Alan, after Sherrill leaves, pockets Corvet’s key with other keys and ponders Corvet’s life and a possible prior marriage. Sherrill suspects Corvet may have simply left, not died, while Alan contemplates legal kinship and a hidden past as dusk deepens and a clock ticks.
