Jailbreak in Madison: Merril fugitives escape county jail
Last night Bert and Bessie Merril escaped from Madison County Jail with help said to involve Barney Hite a plasterer and an accomplice arrest followed by another detainee Swesney. Doors and a heavy gate were forced with crowbars and a chain securing the lock removed. Sheriff Pullen and County Attorney Lee vowed further arrests as investigations continued.

Largest Flower Clock Built for St Louis Exposition
The floral clock near the Agriculture building at the St Louis Exposition stands as the largest timepiece ever. Its concealed mechanism drives a 60 foot minute hand and 15 foot hour markers, with a 100 foot dial, all heavily adorned with garden specimens. A 5000 pound crystal hour glass tower to the south marks time, while 1000 electric lamps light the display at night. The exhibit is by Johnson Service Company of Milwaukee.

George Sutcliffe Dead After Appendicitis Operation
George Sutcliffe died Wednesday night at 7 o clock following an appendicitis operation at Andgragn hospital about a month prior. The remains were taken this morning to a local funeral home for arrangements.
