The third annual Spirit of Benny 10K and 5K Run Walk will be held March 22 at 8 a m in Placerville to benefit Partners in Care. Nancy Milla directs the event in memory of her son Benny Penner who died in 2010 from Batten disease. Benny’s health declined after age three with seizures and speech loss.
The Mercy Hospital of Folsom Auxiliary distributed $1,000 scholarships to 11 of 21 interviewed seniors from El Dorado Hills and Folsom high schools. Oak Ridge senior Cody Ellis thanked the auxiliary, teachers, family and friends as he received his award for future doctors and medical professionals.
