Two fires started Friday afternoon in El Dorado Hills burned 5.4 acres on the Green Valley Road side and 2.1 acres nearby. Firefighters from El Dorado Hills Folsom and Cal Fire contained both blazes by about 2:45 p.m. No structures were damaged and no injuries occurred. Cause of the first fire is under investigation.
Two men suffered major injuries in a Friday morning rollover on Salmon Falls Road. Jason Shaughnessy, 21, of El Dorado Hills, lost control of a southbound 2000 Subaru Outback, rolling two to three times and ending on a dirt embankment. A rear passenger with no seatbelt was ejected and flown to hospital. another rear passenger with major injuries was taken to Marshall Hospital. Shaughnessy was arrested on suspicion of DUI and later released on $25,000 bail.
Chris Amaral runs for El Dorado County District 2 supervisor highlighting a private sector background and nonprofit service. He emphasizes public service and efficiency gains from government collaboration. Amaral notes life in the county, education at American River College and University of Phoenix, plus Harvard online finance training. He currently works for Accenture.
Shiva Frentzen, a Cameron Park official and County Board hopeful for District 9, emphasizes 22 years in the county and 15 years running a business. She advocates channeling limited resources to economic development and jobs rather than rooftops, citing 70 percent of workers traveling out of the county. Frentzen notes the county now has an economic development director and aims to set achievable goals, recalling her role as the first commissioner on the economic development advisory commission.
The El Dorado Hills Community Services District board approved a 1.2 acre land lease for a Veterans Memorial Park at Promontory Park and will begin fundraising. The project aims to honor armed service members with a memory garden reflection pool exhibits and a gathering area.
