In Versailles Ripley County Indiana July 12, 1860 a satirical piece titled How The Money Comes critiques speculative banking and dishonest schemes. The column weaves poems and anecdotes about bankers, tales of the wild cat bank, personal reflections, and scattered notices including a marriage car scene and a sailor’s death. It closes with moral reflections on thrift, honesty, and prudent thinking.
A year after the arrest of Williams a supposed Indiana banker at Martford the case involved forged bank notes and a bank descent led by Chief Wilson and Detectives Reany Blewks. A bag identified as his was found Friday on Patterson dock with stains. he carried between 1500 and 1600 dollars.
