Wilbarger County Fair draws 20000 to 21000 in attendance
The eleventh annual Wilbarger County Fair had the largest attendance yet with an estimated 20 000 to 21 000 visitors over day and night. Officials call the fair financially successful though final profit awaits bill payments and an audited report by Manager R H Coffee. Directors will review the books and a stockholders meeting may occur within sixty days to plan next year.

Boy Fractures Chin in Tolbert Fall

Mrs G McCurdy and W H Simmons tied for first place by guessing $268 in the Farmers State Bank jar at the Wilbur County Fair booth. The actual amount was $267.58. Clarence Ray won second with $268.75 and O K Hafer third with $266. Prizes of $5.06, 2.50 and Sr were awarded. Hundreds registered across four days at the booth.

Agricultural exhibits from Wilbarger County will go to the Tri State Fair at Amarillo the Texas Oklahoma Rodeo Wichita Falls and the Dallas State Fair October 18. Under the Chamber of Commerce and County Farm Agent P L Chaney supervision the displays travel to Amarillo Sunday and Dallas after the Wichita Falls event. New High School Location Set by Board Friday
The school board on Friday night approved locating the new high school building in the center of the lot facing north. Amarillo architect Guy A. Carlinder presented preliminary plans, with detailed designs to follow in weeks and bids to be sought for construction. The plan envisions an RH shaped building with three wings and outside rooms, a 900 seat auditorium, and future gymnasiums added as enrollment grows.

Five Prison Terms Imposed At Session Of Court N Vernon
At the district court session ending Saturday seventeen cases were disposed. Five defendants were sentenced to terms in the penitentiary from two and a half to five years. The grand jury returned forty felonies. many indictments were carried over to the next term starting October 2. The docket featured the Will of God Mebain case, where the jury found the deceased not of sound mind and that undue influence affected the will and land deeds. Other rulings included foreclosures, naturalization, and dismissals, with several defendants acquitted or granted relief. The juvenile murder indictment against Lemon Ivey was moved to Crowell for future juvenile proceedings.
