The famed Salvation Army lassie who served with the Twenty sixth New England Division and earned a Distinguished Service Cross was married in Boston to the New Hampshire man. Walbridge wins a girl many others failed to induce to accept proposals in France. Miss McIntyre is a daughter of Colonel and Mrs W A McIntyre of the Salvation Army. She served throughout the war with her sister. their doughnut making antics brought them wide fame.
Miss Florence W. Dixon of Baltimore wins an exchange fellowship to the University of Brussels under the Belgian memory foundation program. She is a Baltimore bacteriology graduate student who will study under Professor Bordet, one of six American college graduates chosen this year for Belgian projects.
Miss Ruby Thomas hosted yesterday afternoon at her home on Wilbarger Street for the Entre Nous Club. Regular members present included Dou Standifer Bol Standifer Annie Greever Frances Greever Ruby Thomas Charlie Northcratt Jennie Blackman Ruth Bachelor. Guests were Vera Harrington Mary Blackman Frances Kemp and Don Staidifer won high score. A salad course was served.
The weekly meeting featured Mrs Clint Swartwood as hostess with substitutes Mrs A B Swartwood Mrs Frank Berd and Mrs Herbert Farrell. High score favor went to Mrs Wherdin and refreshments included Rosabad coins.
Vernon boy Emerson Holcomb, private secretary to President EK, travels to Fort Worth for duties with the Texas Christian University glee club. He enters TCU and works on music with the university group, while also playing saxophone and teaching at Holcomb School in Vernon.
Mr and Mrs Paul Stansbury arrived yesterday en route from Turkey and the South Plains to Wichita Falls. Stansbury formerly lived in Vernon. He married in Philadelphia last April.
Two day old infant son of Mr and Mrs Frank Hofseulje of 8 Cumberland Street died Sunday. Burial services for the child were conducted Monday.
A box supper will be held at Hinds School on Saturday October 1 starting at 7 45 p m to raise money for the piano fund. All are urged to attend.
Breakfast at Hill Crest Club featured Mr and Mrs A B Swartwood Miss Don Standifer and U FE Standifer enjoying a morning golf party. Cars telling returned this week from Alma Arkansas where he had been visiting relatives for several weeks.
An informal dance at Hill Crest Country Club is set for this evening with a local orchestra providing music. FE Standifer departs tonight for Fort Worth to attend Shrine ceremonial then heads to Galveston to begin first year of medical study at State University. Mrs H J Harvey of Palestine visits with Mrs R P Small then returns home. R Brannon of Wichita Falls is in the city on business. he owns property here.
