Texas University Leads War Service to Nation
Austin special reports that the University of Texas has the most extensive war work among U S educational institutions. President Vinson and the Board of Regents drove military education plans, with nearly 1.6 million dollars spent on buildings and equipment to be reimbursed by the federal government. The campus now hosts aviation hangars, admin and barracks, a radio school, automobile mechanics, and a military aeronautics program, while converting the Theological Seminary into a military hospital. More than 2,700 students and alumni, plus about 50 faculty, are in the army with many in France.
