Vernon chamber secretary urges water supply expansion
J W Townsend secretary of the Vernon chamber of commerce urges the city to expand its water system to meet growth from 3500 to 6200 residents. He points to land across from Hillcrest Country Club acquired in 1918 carrying abundant water and suggests extending mains west along West Texas street to connect with the main system, arguing a higher knoll offers favorable gravity flow. Townsend notes the need to water lawns and flowers and accommodate future growth, and signs the letter as secretary of the chamber.
