Community Council of Defense to meet weekly at the schoolhouse with several matters to discuss.
Wichita County oversubscribed its fourth Liberty Loan quota of 1 575 400 after two days of work. County Chairman D A employed Burk Burnett and others wired Wednesday night that the county was oversubscribed with Burnett subscribing more than the quota.
Public notices explain sealed bids for Vernon-Okhounton Road projects in Wilbarger County and a school bonds election for Bourland Common Consolidated School District No Two. Voting is October 12, 1918 at Dawson Valley Schoolhouse with options for separate contracts and a $250 certified check per bid.
The Bourland Consolidated School opened Monday morning with twenty three pupils present. Classes will move to the Dawson Valley building until the new structure is finished. Miss Pauline Ramsey and Mrs. Gertrude Jones teach. Local families move and travel updates noted. Blake Lewis elected trustee replacing Davy Thompson who resigned.
The War Relief committee in charge of More's Theatre ticket sales reports August and September earnings of 290.00 with 10.00 to the Y M C A 10.00 to Canteen and 250.00 to the Red Cross. They praise patrons and urge Wilbarger county citizens to continue support and note weekly feature films from Paramount Artcraft Metro Ford Weekly.
The local Presbyterian church adopts a "150 in Sunday School" slogan for a Sunday. Ay Shire, Sunday School superintendent, is expected home and a special service is planned. At 11 o'clock a quarterly communion will be observed and all new members from the past quarter will be publicly received.

An advertisement promotes Red Cross Ironated Herbs with Pepsin for fatigue and indigestion, promising to restore health and pink condition. It claims more than one hundred other Red Cross remedies and toilet preparations offered and guaranteed by T. M. Ferguson Drug Co.
State and County agencies solicit sealed bids for road grade work two and a half miles, two bridges, and several culverts in Wilbarger County. Proposals due October 12 in Vernon Texas. include a $500 bid bond. Reading and plans available from County Engineer J B Nabers and the State Highway Department. The right to reject bids or waive technicalities is reserved.
Mr and Mrs F O Dean and their son from Fort Worth visited Tuesday for the funeral of Mrs FE J McCarter and to see Mrs Dean's father M H Kester in town.
