Wilharger County directors of the Vernon Chamber of Commerce heard John J Adams of Hood County warn that the boll weevil has reduced local cotton yield from about 20,000 dollars to 2,000 dollars. Adams showed a live weevil sample and urged sanitation and burning of waste, stalk destruction, and postponing planting. The meeting backed the Unified Campaign for Better Agriculture to cut cotton acreage and promote diversified farming, with the chamber office joining Farm Bureau leaders.
