Red Cross Plans Open Meeting in Wilbarger County
Wilbarger county Red Cross executive committee met at the Chamber of Commerce to discuss the sixth membership roll call set for November 11. T. J. Shive presided and called for a Monday 4:30 pm meeting to decide on the roll call, potential officers, or cessation of the county chapter. The report notes past peace-time work including clinics, health exams, home care, nutrition classes, and Swartwood led Home Service aiding ex servicemen families. Emma Harbaugh of Ponca City arrived for a week’s visit at the Ashenhurst home. Swartwood & Co. advertise radio equipment and materials.

Pie Supper at Kincheloe School House Raises $95
Ninety five dollars was raised at a pie supper held at the Kincheloe school house twelve miles southwest of Vernon. Twenty five pies were auctioned with J M Reese hammering the bids. average price was 1.25 dollars. Roy Banister paid the top bid for a pre St 25 item. A fishing pond offered prizes at ten cents each. A prettiest girl contest named Verena Clarke of Vernon as the winner. an ugliest man contest selected among three. Proceeds fund the new school started three weeks ago. Principal E H Tooley. teachers Miss Clarke and Miss Vivian Meredith. Mrs Pauline F E Morris recovering from surgery in Dallas.
