Vernon School Board Names Teachers For Next Year
The Vernon school board appointed teachers for the coming year at a meeting at Waggoner National Bank. High school fills two vacancies with a principal who will teach mathematics and a science history instructor. Appointees include Mary Lynne Walker, Jessie Hickman, Pearl Russell, Winnie Porterfield, Frances L Oliver, Dora Flack. Parker school staff Headed by D M Hoover and Viola Tucker. Shire school led by H O Smith with Della Houssels and others. Central school with W W Snodgrass as principal and Florence Womack among staff. Cupid launches first boat at Hill Crest Country Club
An eight passenger steel row boat named Cupid is launched on the Hill Crest lake as the club's first purchase. The golf committee also buys twenty seven sheep to graze the course. Vernon team travels to Fort Worth to play Central High School then Abilene, with weekend games deciding the Vernon championship.
