Check Artists Fail Twice at Local Bank Wednesday
A youth named Fred Brown was jailed Wednesday afternoon for forgery after attempting to cash a 34.50 check drawn on Rev. W. W. Adams of White City and stealing a minister’s watch found under a cot mattress. A second suspect cashed a bearer check for 200 pounds claimed to be from Dr. R. B. Dickenson. he fled after saying he would locate the doctor, and was not ID’d by the cashier. Local officers arrested a man later, but the cashier did not identify him.

Cattle Shipment From Weggoner Ranches Planned
A 400 head shipment of two year old heifers and calves will depart Weggoner Ranches in the morning. The stock will reach the new shipping pens at Oklainton and head to market, requiring fifteen cars. It marks the largest cattle shipment from Wilbarger county in several years. The Blanton and Hamilton families, plus Miss Rutl, were noted in the day’s social items.

Murchison to Erect Building on Mal Street
A. H. Murchison awarded the contract to O. A. Swinburn for a two story building on Mal street between the Waggoner National Bank and the new Dixon building. The structure will be 10 feet high basement full length lot with a modern first floor barber showroom and skylight daylight. The second floor will be four offices with access from the Waggoner building and the basement will house the steam heating plant and storage. Estimated cost 15000 dollars and completion expected in fall.

Two elderly men died within an hour of each other on Wednesday night. Jack Lane, 76, long time Verlo resident, died after distress at 3 o clock. S. T. Bolven of Lepu nte rk died at a tourist camp an hour later while traveling with his two sons bound for California. The family had stopped for a few days to work in the harvest field. Rev.
