Cotton trade faces tight supply as world stocks fall

The analysis projects a total cotton supply around 16.56 million bales for 1922-23 if a 12 million bale crop occurs, with demand near 15 million bales. This could imply severe stringency and potential famine-like conditions, urging manufacturers to replenish stocks. The piece notes unchanged figures for Japan and China and suggests 2.5 million additional bales beyond current consumption.
