Al Shaffer Production Charms Vernon Theater Audience
Al Shaffer and his 15 member company impressed a Vernon audience last night with a refined musical comedy show. The production avoided vulgarity and offered strong music, witty comedy, and an attractive chorus led by Dot Moore. Cast included George Fares as an Irishman, George Levy as a Jew peddler, Billy Miller as a colored man, with Stella Rinehart enhancing the performances. The company remains in Vernon all week.

Texas Farm Credit Plan Lets Farmers Borrow At Low Rates
A Texas Industrial Congress project creates SPOOQUO funded microloans for farmers and their families in the state. Sam P. Cochran of Dallas will act as trustee, with a business committee approving loans to those lacking bank collateral. Loans aim to raise production and improve rural life, with repayments recycled to assist others. The plan envisions tenants purchasing small tracts, equipment, poultry or cattle to raise living standards and encourage staying on farms, aided by wife and children participating in income-earning activities. A separate note mentions visits by Ras Patton and Ed Patton, and a grocery store listing.
