State executive committee fixes ballot pledge in Texas primary
The Wilbarger county Democratic executive committee ordered reprinting of the primary ticket to correct the pledge to conform with Texas law. State committee instructions influenced the error, and Dr J B Dodson and others urged alignment with the statute. Lawyers questioned the ballot’s validity since the pledge differed from the required text. The revised ticket now complies, while pre-primary expense filings again lag behind schedule. Local officials note enforcement risks could drop the county primary. Also, Vernon officials route to Joplin for paving material to secure a suitable pulverized rock for street work.

Shallow wells seen as poor man's oil path by Robinson
Poho Robinson argues shallow wells of small production offer better investment than deeper wells. He cites Will McMillan’s results on a six foot well near section 25, with five wells producing 80 to 40 barrels daily. A shallow drill around 200 feet costs about 40000, or 400 per foot. Robinson says a shallow well can be finished for about 1250 per hole and requires no casing if dry, presenting a low cost, high potential option for a poorer investor.
