Instructions for Women on Casting Votes in Courthouse Meeting
Women attending a courthouse meeting received step by step guidance from R V Parr, the county tax collector, on how to cast their votes on July 27. He outlined presenting registration certificates or swearing to registered status if lost, obtaining a printed ballot, voting privately, folding the ballot, and returning it to the election judge. He warned against assistance and colored pencils, and urged not to erase mistakes by asking for a new ballot, noting unmarked names invalidate votes. Texas women gained primary voting rights via Governor Hobby signing the 1918 bill.
