A Brown County area feature highlights Bourland and Sharp hog farm four miles east of Vernon on the Colorado Arkansas Highway. The operation houses 200 to 300 purebred registered hogs, a thriving Poland China line, modern farrowing pens, south-facing facilities, concrete water troughs, portable feeding troughs, and centralized dipping. The article notes high prizes at Childress and Wilbarger County Fairs, top placements at the Texas Oklahoma pairings in Wichita Falls, and announces the annual wheaton sale with 40 sows and gilts to be auctioned, led by Tom Morton and George Richardson with bank officials in attendance.

Weather Service Aids Aviators In 1922 Year
The Weather Bureau boosted aviation support in the past fiscal year with daily forecasts for 14 zones issued to Army Navy and postal officials and to flying fields. Upper air forecasts were broadcast for almost all zones and detailed routes Washington to Norfolk Long Island and Dayton began January 12. Aviators received weather by telephone and telegraph with Navy and Air Service cooperation to maximize safety and brief prep. Large wheat and barley crop declines in Spain were reported, with 1922 wheat production at 125,478,000 bushels from 1,507,000 acres and barley at 77,428,000 bushels from 4,080,000 acres, versus 1921 figures.
