Outlet to North and South Is Chief Need Here
Vernon residents, led by real estate man J R Jones, advocate a northward outlet via a Red River bridge and a Seymour rail link to boost trade. They cite Electra’s toll bridge profit model, freight rate savings for Oklahoma farmers, and the need to ease treacherous river crossings. A Vernon Seymour railroad idea could connect with Frisco or Denver routes, reopening a hinterland trade corridor through Taylor County.
