City superintendent L. L. Doheney announces strict enforcement of the state law requiring children aged eight to fourteen to attend school 100 days per scholastic year. Vernon trustees set five month compulsory period starting January 2, with exemptions for private instruction, distance, health, and other conditions. officers will compile attendance lists.
From the text read, children over twelve who have completed the fourth grade may be called from school to aid a parent or guardian. The wording emphasizes workers needed to support families and notes the age and education level required.
At the Pretorium a program features The Old Oaken Bucket and Dawn of the East with Alice Brady and Mack Sennett comedies. The reel includes romantic reminiscence, exotic intrigue, and colorful settings promising a vivid screen experience.
