Frank A Lampe Dies at Home in Farmers Valley

Frank A Lampe died suddenly at his home in Farmers Valley on Saturday February 16, after four months illness. Funeral services were held at Holy Family Catholic Church and interment was at East View cemetery. He is survived by his wife and twelve children with four grandchildren. children listed include Arnold Lampe Paulin Lampe Johanna Mary Louise Lammy Theresa Sprangler Ben Frank Olphones Louis Lampe Leo Lampe and Louis Lampe of Brush Colorado Pilot Point Texas and Pittsburg Kansas.

Rural Supervisor Inspects County Schools Friday

A. Clarke state rural school supervisor inspected seven county schools Wildeat Hinds Fargo Hauth Till Crescent Cove Tolbert Farmers Valley Wells Chapel all in splendid condition to receive state aid The inspector is in Hardeman and Motley counties this week and will return to inspect the remaining schools Hardeman county schools were dismissed so pupils could attend a poultry school, leading the inspector to work in Wilburger county.

Pure Food Show by Local Women Staged April 7

The second annual Pure Food show will be held here beginning April 7, sponsored by the Presbyterian Auxiliary. The group reports last year’s event drew strong local interest and will be an annual affair with merchants and home cookery on display and sale.

Vernon native Leon H Brown to return home for new post

Leon H Brown former Vernon boy and World War I veteran will move back to Vernon to take the roles of secretary and treasurer at the South Vernon Oil Company and serve as attorney for the tin company. He has been a high official in the American Legion in Oklahoma and practiced law at Blackwell. Brown plans to move here within a short time.

Wild turkeys planned for Wilbarger County stocking

Plans by Bob More and H White aim to stock wooded Wilbarger County with wild turkeys within years. A shipment from Southwest Texas will arrive soon and be placed along Beaver Creek and other areas under strict guard for three years to foster growth. White recently returned from Austin with the necessary permission.

Crescent Cove Students Win Two Prizes in Poster Contest

Crescent Cove school students took first prize and honorable mention in a poultry school poster contest held last Thursday. Newmin Hughes won 750 and Owen White earned honorable mention. Lessons on drawing had been taught by former principal Elihu Dockery, now Tolbert schools principal. Miss Leola Smith leads Crescent Cove this year introducing school lunches and other innovations.

Miss Thelma Wells a Wichita Falls oil operator has spent ten days in Vernon examining the local field. She says Vernon offers the best outlook of any town she has visited and plans to boost oil business by sending her own leases and production interests to Vernon as soon as final arrangements are made.

Expert to speak on local Chamber of Commerce work

Colvin B. Brown head of the Organization Service Bureau of the U S Chamber of Commerce will visit Vernon to outline local chamber organization problems. The talk titled You and Your Local Chamber covers structure activities and procedures. Three Indictments by Foard County Jurors

District Court convened in Crowell under Judge James V. Leak of Vernon. The grand jury, discharged after a final report, returned only three felony indictments with no misdemeanors. Foreman T. M. Haney, a well known Vernon resident near the Wilbarger County line, led the panel.

Washington Birthday Observances In County Schools

Ceremonies honoring the first president were held by several schools Friday. In connection with the exercises trees were planted on school grounds at Elliott Tolbert and Crescent Cove as a general arbor day was observed across the county.

Shooting Victim Richard Watson Lived Here Before

Richard Watson, 32, was killed by a shotgun blast through a window at a Glen Rose home Friday night. He had lived near Tayloud, had previous liquor offense links, and was a former Wilbarger and Somervell County resident now connected to Perrysonna police. Seven men were jailed on charges related to the shooting after authorities report Watson was testifying in liquor cases.

Aged Milam County Man Dies During Visit to Relatives

J. Holliman of Milam County Texas died in Wichita Falls on February 20 at 12 24 p m after visiting relatives there and in Wichita Falls. Funeral services were held at Hookdale Primitive Baptist Church with Holliman as a longtime member. Interment followed in Hookdale Cemetery. He was a Alabama native who moved to Milam County 33 years ago and leaves eight children and twenty five grandchildren. The eight children attended the funeral. his wife died nine years ago.
