Influenza Holds Up Vernon Field Oil Activity
Oil drilling in Vernon county slows as influenza and bad weather delay wells. Multiple tests such as Neal-Hamilton Webb-Magness and V. O. D. Barm resume after shutdowns. Magnolia reports No OT Frances Sumner completing at 1,980 feet producing oil, while Piper lease wells yield 85 barrels. Leasing surges, roads poor, and abstract firms strained by demand. Wells across multiple sections show fishing for tools, rigging up, or waiting on casing.
