Vernon Soldier Recounts Brutal Gas Attack On Champagne Front

Andrew, a member of Company I, 42nd Infantry, returned Saturday after overseas service. He was gassed during a top assault on the Champagne front and spent two and a half months in the hospital. He describes being knocked down six times by shell concussions while returning to aid his gas mask, with a shell burst that hurled him thirty feet in the air.

Mrs Sewell Hosts Choir at Presbyterian Church

J. T. Squires formerly of Vernon is named deputy commissioner of banking by George Waverly Dries, state commissioner of banking and insurance. Miller Arrives in Dallas After Army Discharge

Udley Miller, recently discharged from the Medical Corps with a silver star, arrived in Pribran Camp Travis after receiving his honor. He signaled a light rank with three vice stripes. Wayne Tielwes arrived Saturday from San Pateisean to spend a ten day furlough with his parents Rey Mis and TE Holmes on West Paradise Street. Holmes was a clerk at the local post office before enlisting in the navy. He is a first class petty officer and does not know when he will be discharged.

Parr Suffers Nail Puncture Foot Injury
