Women vote tax ruling noted in 1919 county report

State Comptroller H B Terrell states the Thirty Fifth Legislature does not levy a poll tax on all women of voting age as a condition for primary voting. Seven women have paid poll taxes despite the ruling, while 150 men have paid. With no party primaries next year, voter numbers may drop though several constitutional amendments including woman suffrage are urged. A list of polling precincts and male poll tax payments is provided.
